Very Big Grins

Just once in my lifetime I would like to see a piece of open-source software with documentation that bears even slight resemblance to the software it purports to document. JUST ONCE.

In particular I’ve wasted a day and a half on a MySQL installation. The docs say that the default installation has no password for the root user, and yet I run up against “ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: ‘root@localhost’ (Using password: NO)”. Of course there’s all sorts of lovely information about how to reset the root password and of course none of it even pretends to work.

I’m about to go on a killing rampage here.

Ignore me. I just needed to vent. My boss says no killing sprees.
