Speed Addict

Since I haven’t run all week and because tomorrow is the Bridge to Bridge run, I wanted to get a run in today just to get back in the swing of things, but not to burn myself out. I usually follow (more or less) the LSD (long slow distance) method, but today I wanted to just get out and burn fast.

I picked a flat course (Urbano Drive) and chose a target time of 30 minutes. I ran as fast as I thought I could maintain for that time.

In truth, I think I probably still had more in me, but I was happy to stop when I did. I think that’s good for a training run.

I did 4.0 miles in 30:16. The splits came roughly to 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 7:46. I paid attention when I hit the lap button, but I don’t know how to get those numbers out of my watch.

Even though I know this was intentionally a faster run than normal (don’t even ask about my heartrate) my pace is improving.

Wish me luck tomorrow!
